Wiring Phos Uplights / Downlights

Added: 04/04/19

Generally speaking, most of our uplights and downlights can be wired as one light to one driver.

However, in some instances it can be better, or necessary, to wire multiple lights to one driver. This includes the 1W version.

When taking this approach please be advised that all our ranges (excluding DecoStrip and DecoFlex) are constant current and therefore must be wired in a series.

If LEDs are accidently wired in parallel your lights may be dimmer than anticipated, provide varying levels of output or not light at all. This problem arises because the shared current is not providing sufficient power to the amount of lights wired to the driver.

Once you have wired your lights, allow at least two minutes before connecting the lights to a recently powered driver. It is highly possible that the output voltage may have been stored internally and so time must be allowed to dissipate.

If you need any further or more specific advice on this subject, please speak to one of our light engineers.
