The Stables - Clerkenwell
About the project
Lighting Designer Gus Goidanich enriches the architectural features of this studio apartment through the medium of light - and the results are remarkable.
"My objective as a lighting designer was to celebrate the different architectural volumes of this unique warehouse in the historical heart of Clerkenwell.
"Ecoled's Zep 3 Mini Projectors were used to accentuate the wood beams and Decoline LED strips light the large windows, which on one side are completely blocked by the neighbouring building. Decoline strip was also incorporated into the kitchen to boast the dark surfaces and provide a glamourous feel for entertaining.
"I employed Zep 3 Eyelids to highlight the texture of the original brick walls without producing any glare and therefore creating a theatrical backdrop for the decorative elements, including a collection of beautiful mid-century lamps.
"Meanwhile, Zep 6 Eyeconic Trimless luminaires were specified with gold inserts to produce golden tinged focal points that feel warm and welcoming, yet they sit very discreetly - almost invisibly - in the areas with lowered ceilings.
"A Lutron Homeworks control system complemented the lighting scheme, allowing for dynamic lighting scenes from a relaxing mode to a more spectacular and dramatic setting for parties.”
